Useful negotiating tactics
Nobody wants to buy more than they need right?
Why should you?
Use these price negotiation tactics to get the best price for any product or service.
These tactics will help you especially if you are in sales.
You can use these negotiation skills in any selling situation.
Quick Hmm
No matter what price the other person offers, flinch as if you just heard something very disappointing + put a sad look on your face.
Act as if you are experiencing pain 😀
Things you could say, “Wow! That’s an awful lot of money!”
It just so happens that simple HMM or a flinch will cause the other person to drop or increase the price immediately. Believe me, it works, and it’s so simple to use
Example.
A client recently asks me to make him a web page. I said ok, How much are you willing to invest in your web page? He said “Well, 5000” then I did the Hmm as in Why are we even talking now – and IMIDITIATELY he said, “8500 actually” 😀
Game of questioning
I like how people in Turkye and Albania are doing business in the city stands.
they don’t just want you to sell you things, they want to negotiate and to “win” the negotiation price.
And they are great salesmen and you can learn a lot from them.
When you ask the price and the person tells you the price, you pause, look surprised, or even shocked, and say, “Is that the best you can do?”
The trick is to remain perfectly silent after.
If there is any flexibility in the price, very often, the other person will drop the price immediately, or raise their offer immediately.
If they lower their price in response to, “Is that the best you can do,” you then say, “Is that the very best you can do?”
Ask, “Couldn’t you do any better than that?”
You can also ask, “What is the best you can do if I make a decision today?”
You can add this element of urgency and triggers the fear of losing the sale in the mind of the vendor.
I can get it cheeper
A common answer in the business world.
As soon as they tell you the price, you immediately reply, “I can get this cheaper somewhere else.”
It works even better if you mention the competition and how they will provide similar if not better service from the one you negotiating for a better price.
People then start doubting their sales knowledge and expertise and will rather make any then no sale.
Just try to say, “I can get this cheaper elsewhere,”
Use it with a calm tone of voice.
Don’t start anything bad but just be a nice person who thinks that they can get better service elsewhere.
When you ask in a nice way, it’s much easier to persuade other people and to change their minds.
Lowballing
If they say; The price is $100, you lowball your answer and say, “I’ll give you $50 cash right now.”
People love money, quick money, immediate money so this kind of negotiation works great.
You need to be sure you have money with you to do that 😀
Be ready for when you say you will give $50 cash right now that they will come back with a counteroffer of $60 or $70, which is still better than the original $100.
What else?
What else comes with your offer. Try to get more out of the value if you cant lover the initial price.
Say something like, “Hmm, I’ll agree to this price if you will throw in free delivery.”
If they hesitate about adding something else into the deal.
Say in a pleasant way, “If you won’t include free delivery, then I don’t want the deal at all.”
Make it clear that you are willing to walk away if they are not willing to add something extra to the deal.
The key is that you agree on all the tearms and just when the seller is happy that the deal is done then you add your additional request 😀
Use these negotiation techniques to secure the best prices for yourself.
Keep negotiation profesional.
Never be afraid to ask for a better price.
The price is just some number that a salesesperson thinks you’re willing to pay.You can almost always get a better price.
