THREE SALES TECHNIQUES FROM MY THREE-YEAR OLD

Three great sales techniques my daughter uses on me on a daily basis 😀

Let me set the scene real quick.

It is at 11 pm.

Everybody is already asleep. I’m tired and I want to go to sleep, was a long day, my wife is already in bed and she should already be sleeping.

But why should be so easy right 😀

So we already did our normal bedtime routine, shower, brush teeth, put on PJs and it should be sleep time, but NO! She still wants to play!

So my daughter calls me to her room and said Daddy come here and read me a book!

I said No, it’s late and we are going to sleep now, you should already be sleeping.
She said: I don’t want to go to sleep, read me a book!
I said: No books, it’s late, we are all going to sleep!

That is when it starts!

Sales technique #1
MINDSET

One great sales technique, if not the most important, is to have the right mindset when it comes to selling.

How do you think about selling? Do you have the good or bad viewpoint of what seeking is?

If you have a negative viewpoint then you will always be bad at selling because it will always feel like a pressure to you and people/clients can notice that very easily.
But if you have a good viewpoint on selling, that your success rate will be way higher.

Don’t consider yourself to be a salesperson but a problem solver!
YOu are not selling product or service, you are selling your client a solution

Now people really don’t like to be called themself a salesperson that much. Most people have some negative image in our heads. I know i do, when

Back to the story.

At the point where I said “No books, we are going to sleep” she had her mindset that she will not go to sleep unless I spend some more time with her, play or read her a book.

So she goes: “But daddy I’m not sleepy, don’t you want me to be happy and fall asleep happily?”

She started to find ways to keep me up and longer with her. She knows I’m emotional when it comes to her and of course I want my daughter to be happy and fall asleep happier so I go to her room and ask “What would it take for you to go to sleep?”

That brings us to

Sales technique #2
NEGOTIATION

Now negotiation is a discussion aimed at reaching an agreement.
Fairly simple right? But how good are you at it?

We are negotiating every dan all day, some people are better at it than other but that is one is of selling when you should be very good at it.

Good negotiation skills can make you ar take you a lot of money.

Believe me, before I started learning about it implementing different negotiation strategies I paid my due when I didn’t know how to negotiate. I will be covering negotiation in some of my next videos.

Back to the story.

“What would it take for you to go to sleep?”

She thought about it for a sec and said: “Read me this book” while pointing her index finger to the biggest book in the room. Smarty!
Now the book that she pointed out to is big and has like 50 stories in it, some 20 pages long, some 5 pages long. It’s our normal night routine.

I said: “NO! It will take me an hour or more to read it to you, you can only get some stories, which one do you want?”
She said:” Read me 5 stories”
I said: “NO, choose one and that’s it, then is bedtime!”
She said: “OK! I choose Cinderella!

Now, OF COURSE, she will choose Cinderella story which is then the biggest story in the book 😀 Smarty!

As you can ready, we come from reading the whole book, to read five stories to read only one! That is good negotiation, even if it is with a 3-year-old:D

Every situation in business or private life can be negotiated! Every! So better be good at it. Or better than me haha

So as I was reading the CInderella and I was close to the end she said “Daddy, can you read me one smaller story, and then I will go to sleep?”

Which brings us to the next sale technique.

Sale technique #3
UPSELLING

You should always be upselling! As an entrepreneur, you should always be looking for ways to sell more of your product or services.
If you think that the time or situation is right, and you will know this with time and experience, you have to try upselling.

Back to the story.

So she said: “Daddy, can you read me one smaller story, and then I will go to sleep?”
I said: “NO! This is it, when CInderella is done its sleep time!” I said that but I didn’t do it haha
She looks me with her sad beautiful eyes and said “OK daddy!”

So, of course, i read the small story as well.

To sum it up..

With her using these great three sales techniques even I was opposed to it I still end up reading her Cinderella and a smaller story and I was with her and up till midnight.

Work on your MINDSET, NEGOTIATION, and UPSELL and you will keep your client “up” longer and that will translate into more $$ for your business and get your FURTHER, FASTER!
